- Mega turbo-V-8 engines, deliciously appointed cabin, extreme performance meets over-the-top luxury.
- Plug-in models are heavy, a bit more rear-seat legroom would be nice, fuel economy is not this car’s reason for being.
- The Continental GT takes its grand touring assignment seriously, with equal attention paid to aesthetics, amenities, and athleticism.

By Drew DorianOverview
Bentley's grand touring ethos is in full effect in its Continental GT coupe and convertible. This fashion-forward two-door cuts a glamorous silhouette, its cabin is decked out in the finest wood, leather, and metal trim, and it’s got effortless performance for days.
Most Contis are plug-in hybrids with twin-turbo V-8 engines and electric motors that combine for up to 771 horsepower. A nonhybrid Supersports model with a 657-hp twin-turbo V-8 is also offered. Sans hybrid system, it’s the athlete of the family. Hybrid or no, all Continental GTs offer satisfying handling and blistering acceleration.
Expert Tip: If you like the look and mission of the Continental GT but need more space for passengers, consider the four-door Flying Spur, which offers the same plug-in hybrid powertrains but a more spacious rear seat and trunk.

What's New for 2027?
Bentley is launching the Continental GT Supersports trim for 2027, which ditches the standard car's plug-in hybrid system for a nonhybrid twin-turbo V-8 with 657 horsepower. It saves more weight by doing away with the cramped rear seats and the all-wheel drive system in favor of a two-seat, rear-wheel-drive setup. The Supersports promises to be the most fun to drive of the Continental GTs, and it wears racier styling elements and aerodynamic mods. Only 500 will be built.

Pricing and Which One to Buy
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
- Engines: 657-hp twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8; twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 and one electric motor, 671-771 hp combined
- Transmission: 8-speed dual-clutch automatic
- Drivetrains: rear-wheel drive, all-wheel drive
rid version of the V-8 with 657 horses, and when we drove it on the track we found this lighter-weight model to be the most athletic version of the bunch.
When we drove the Continental GT Speed, we found the hybrid powertrain to be astonishingly powerful and quite refined as well. We were also impressed by the lower-output powertrain in the S model, which is plenty powerful on its own. The Continental GT's prodigious weight hurts its handling and braking performance, but it's sublimely comfortable and quiet. The more sport-oriented GT S remedies some of the lesser trims' handling woes with more aggressive chassis programming, standard air springs with adaptive dampers, rear-axle steering, active anti-roll bars, torque vectoring, and an electronically controlled limited-slip rear differential. On our test drive of a GT S, we were wowed by its dynamic talents and just-right ride and handling balance.
0–60-MPH Times
- C/D 60-mph Test: 2.8 seconds (Speed coupe), 3.0 seconds (GT S)
In Comparison: When we tested a Continental GT Speed coupe, it got to 60 mph in a swift 2.8 seconds. A Continental GT S that we recently tested got to the 60 mph mark in just 2.8 seconds.
Range, Charging, and Battery Life
- C/D Range Test: 49 miles
- EPA EV Range: 30 miles
According to the EPA, the Continental GT's 21.8-kWh battery pack is good for up to 30 miles of electric range. Drive with more zest, and the total range number is likely to be less. Be that as it may, we were able to travel an impressive 49 miles on electric power alone when we tested a GT S model.
Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG
- EPA City Rating: 17 mpg
- EPA Highway Rating: 22 mpg
Don't expect the Continental's hybridized powertrain to turn this grand tourer into a fuel-sipper. The EPA's fuel economy ratings are only 17 mpg city, 22 mpg highway, and 19 mpg combined. When we get a chance, we'll take the Continental GT on our 75-mph highway fuel economy route and update this story with real-world test results. For more information about the Continental GT's fuel economy, visit the EPA's website.
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
First Row: It isn't a Bentley unless the interior is draped in high-end leather and wood. Heavily-cushioned chairs with quilted leather upholstery are all-day comfortable, feature 20-way power adjustability, and can be equipped with both a massage feature and an automatic climate control system that activates the heat or ventilation function if it detects you're too cold or too warm. The GTC convertible model features a cloth top that's power-operable and can deploy in as little as 19 seconds should it start to drizzle; the top is available in seven colors. Speaking of which, buyers can spec their Continental GT any way they want through the company's Mulliner bespoke-build customization service when the standard list of options isn't quite hitting expectations.
Second Row: The rear seats aren't spacious, but they should be able to fit two adults for short trips. If you go with the Supersports trim, you'll get no rear seats.
Cargo Capacity: Coupe models have a 9.2 cubic-foot trunk, while convertibles offer less cargo space at only 4.7 cubic feet.
Infotainment and Connectivity
- Infotainment: 12.3-inch touchscreen
- Connectivity: Bluetooth, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- Audio System: 10-speaker stereo (standard), 16-speaker Bang & Olufsen stereo (optional), 18-speaker Naim stereo (optional)
A 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen is standard on every Continental GT, but you may not see it if you peek in the window. That's because Bentley has engineered a rotating panel that can flip around to either hide the screen behind a matching piece of wood veneer or replace it with a bank of three old-school analog gauges.
The software interface features wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A 10-speaker stereo is standard, but two different premium audio setups are available: A 16-speaker setup tuned by Bang & Olufsen and an 18-speaker Naim system, which features bass transducers mounted into the front seats.
Safety and Driver-Assistance Features
In addition to the expected standard driver-assistance features, the Continental GT is available with a remote parking feature that allows the driver to park or summon the two-door from their smartphone.
- Standard Safety Features: automated emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control
- Optional Safety Features: remote parking assist
For information about the Continental GT's crash-test results, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites.
Warranty and Maintenance Coverage
Rather than put mileage limits on the Continental GT's standard warranty policies, Bentley covers everything for three years regardless of how far the car is driven. The company also provides the first maintenance visit with their compliments at one year or 10,000 miles.
- Limited Warranty: three years or unlimited miles
- Powertrain Warranty: three years or unlimited miles
- Complimentary Maintenance: one year or 10,000 miles
