Terranigma, one of the all-time classics from the Super Nintendo era is making its way to the United States on the latest consoles — including Nintendo Switch 2, per Gematsu. Terranigma: What Was Announced
Clear River Games is handling the release in cooperation with Square Enix, and the window is early 2027 rather than a fixed date. No price has been announced and pre-orders are not open yet.
Both physical and digital versions are planned, which matters for a game whose original cartridge became a collector's item largely by never reaching American shelves.
For the uninitiated, Terranigma is an action RPG played from a top-down perspective. The game's visuals were bolstered by the character art of Manga artist Kamui Fujiwara. The protagonist Ark is one of the more iconic characters from 90s gaming who never got the opportunity to become as legendary as his American contemporaries in the United States. Perhaps that will change with the release.
The game is the final chapter of Quintet's Gaia Trilogy. And while U.S. gamers didn't get Terranigma before the upcoming release, they have felt its influence in other action RPGs.
For anyone wondering and crossing their fingers, yes, Fujiwara is back on the project, contributing new key art, in-game designs and creative feedback. It’ll be great to see how his art translates on updated hardware. That in itself is exciting for fans of the trilogy.

Clear River Games general manager Ali Manzurin framed the gap plainly, saying Terranigma "has cemented its status as a true undiscovered gem."
