Given Blizzard's history of reviving its older games — including StarCraft Remastered, Warcraft 3 Reforged, and Diablo 2: Resurrected — and total rebrands – reverting Overwatch 2 to Overwatch — anything seems to be on the table.

Overwatch’s next hero revealed at BlizzCon
Image: Blizzard EntertainmentBlizzard detailed what players can expect from Overwatch’s next season during the franchise’s BlizzCon 2026 opening ceremony segment. A new vampiric hero named Doctrine is coming to the game, as is the Grímsvötn map and the return of Dokiwatch cosmetics.
This BlizzCon’s Overwatch cinematic focused on Doomfist’s efforts to keep control of Talon after almost being killed. He works with agents like Sombra to free Doctrine, who suits up again and prepares to fight alongside his sect of Talon.

Blizzard reveals BlizzCon 2026-exclusive in-game cosmetics for WoW, Overwatch, and Diablo

BlizzCon, the once-annual gathering of Blizzard Entertainment fans, returns in September with fresh game reveals and updates, behind-the-scenes stories, and community events. On Wednesday, Blizzard announced a long list of BlizzCon 2026-themed skins, mounts, and in-game bonuses coming to games like World of Warcraft, Diablo 4, and Overwatch. Diablo 5 officially announced at BlizzCon 2026

At BlizzCon 2026's opening ceremony on Saturday, Blizzard Entertainment confirmed that it's currently developing Diablo 5, the next mainline entry in the nearly 30-year-old Diablo franchise. For the sequel, Blizzard is bringing back the Lord of Terror himself, the original Diablo, who first terrorized heroic adventurers back in 1997.
Blizzard was even bold enough to put a release date on the franchise's next game. Diablo 5 will be released in spring 2029, Blizzard announced at BlizzCon.

Two of Overwatch’s most divisive heroes are getting game-changing reworks

Roadhog's Chain Hook has been a massive source of frustration for players on the receiving end of it, as squishier Overwatch heroes face almost certain death if the attack connects. And over the years, Sombra has consistently been one of the most-banned heroes on the game's roster, thanks to her annoying stealth- and hack-based kit.
Blizzard announced at BlizzCon 2026 that it's addressing those two divisive heroes with dramatic reworks. That includes a role change for Sombra, who is moving from Overwatch's damage group to the support group.

Heroes of the Storm is making an unexpected comeback in 2026
At BlizzCon 2026, Blizzard Entertainment announced a new hero for Heroes of the Storm: Xal’atath. He’s coming to the game later this month, and could signal a larger return of support for the game.
