Frank Ocean’s Blockbuster Album Brings Him To A Huge Chart Figure

For an artist who is regarded as a generational voice, Frank Ocean has released a surprisingly small amount of music. The R&B talent has only reached the Billboard 200 – the most important albums ranking in America, which blends sales and streaming activity to show which collections listeners are consuming – with a pair of projects. To put that number into perspective, seven albums by Taylor Swift are present on the same tally this week.

Both of Ocean’s sets have proved to be not only high-rising wins, but long-lasting ones. As the world waits for new music from the superstar, who has not delivered an album in a decade, one of the singer’s most celebrated pieces of work reaches a special milestone.

Frank Ocean’s Blonde Reaches 500 Weeks

Blonde rises nearly 10 spaces on the Billboard 200 this week, advancing from No. 83 to No. 74. As of this frame, Ocean’s sophomore album has now spent 500 weeks somewhere on the 200-space roster. Only a few dozen projects have ever reached that landmark sum, and Blonde becomes the first release from Ocean to do so.

Frank Ocean’s Channel Orange Is Still Going Strong

Ocean has only placed Channel Orange and Blonde on the Billboard 200, and both are still present this week. Channel Orange climbs three spaces to No. 91 as it reaches 296 weeks on the tally. In about a month, the Grammy-winning project may celebrate 300 frames on the ranking. Despite the fact that Channel Orange was released several years before Blonde, it has not maintained the same nearly uninterrupted presence on the Billboard 200 as its follow-up.

Both Frank Ocean Albums Reached the Top Two

Ocean’s track record on the Billboard 200 is remarkable, and not only when looking at longevity. Both of his charting studio efforts have climbed into the top two on the ranking. Channel Orange peaked at No. 2 after arriving in July 2012, while Blonde spent one stint on top of the ranking.

Frank Ocean Charts Both Albums on Three Rankings

Blonde and Channel Orange appear on the same three Billboard charts this week. Blonde rises on all of them, moving to No. 9 on the Top R&B Albums ranking and No. 20 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums tally in addition to its Billboard 200 gain.

Channel Orange also improves by one space on the Top R&B Albums roster, where it reaches No. 11, while slipping a single spot to No. 26 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums list. The older release does manage to climb on the Billboard 200 as well.
