Day one of LIV Golf Indianapolis in the books. A soft course at The Club at Chatham Hills saw 29 of the 57 players in the field shooting scores in the 60s and only eight players over par. Englishman Laurie Canter leads the field after an eight under par 62, the best round of his season, while Ollie Schniederjans bookends the field at seven over par.
On the team competition side, many eyes are on the Majesticks Golf Club, who took the early lead at LIV Golf Indianapolis. They finished round one at -17, two shots ahead of Ripper GC and Legion XIII. While Laurie Canter lead the charge for the Majesticks, teammate Lee Westwood was close behind with a six under par 64, with Ian Poulter contributing a two under 68 and Sam Horsfield with a one under 69.
The Majesticks, captained by Ian Poulter, have never won a LIV Golf team title since LIV Golf’s inception. However, with three rounds still to play they have positioned themselves well to make a run at history.
"I didn't get off to the best of starts," Canter said. "I think I bogeyed 8, hit it in the right trap but it still got me going. I think I had three birdies off the back of that. Drove the ball great. I hit a lot of fairways, and kind of the way the golf course is playing with no wind and you have to take it at pretty much all the pins, I stayed aggressive for the day and made a lot of birdies."
Lee Westwood added, "...My game is in good shape. Generally I play well from sort of the middle of the year onwards. Historically that's what's happened. I'm not surprised we're playing well. I've been working quite hard on my game recently, and I've putting as good as I've ever putted, I think. I think I had 20 putts today, if we're just counting the ones on the greens, which is pretty much unheard of for me.”

Crushers GC captain Bryson DeChambeau started his week with a first round five under par 67. DeChambeau has been front and center with his support for LIV Golf and has been involved behind the scenes supporting the future of the league. Said DeChambeau after yesterdays round:
"...Look, it's tough. It's not easy. We definitely have a lot against us. But I think behind the scenes we've got a lot of people that are working hard to make this possible for not only all the players that are out here but all the fans that have come out to these events and the economic impact that we've made in all these places, whether it's South Africa, here in Indy or Australia, numerous places across the world, the UK, all the different places we've been in the U.S. Even Nashville when we played a few years ago was unbelievable.I think we just have a bit of a responsibility to continue to show this. If it works, it works; awesome. If it doesn't, we'll figure things out. Time will move on, and I would say that time heals things. I hope people can see that we actually bring value to the game of golf. My wish is that people give us one more shot and be open minded.”
Round two of LIV Golf Indianapolis begins Friday with the shotgun start kicking things off at 12:15 PM ET.
